Art Deco Amethyst Filigree Ring

Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken intelligence. What versatility, a stone of beauty that handily makes you smarter and banishes bad thinking. On the beauty side, this ring presents an alluring assemblage of pale violet amethysts, a pair of shield shapes and a single scissor cut, perfectly fitted to create an elongated navette. The glistening stones are set in a mounting of intricately worked filigree that includes a butterfly above each shoulder of the currently size 8 ring shank. From Massachusetts jeweler J.J. Sommer Co., circa 1930, it is die-struck in 14K white gold.
